Picket lines up at Cara Flight KitchenAugust 18, 2004, VANCOUVER AIRPORT - Picket lines went up at the Flight Kitchen on Miller Road in Richmond at 7:15 pm precisely this evening as 650 members of UNITE HERE! Local 40 began their fight to win a fair contract with their employer, Cara Airline Services Division at the Vancouver International Airport in Richmond, BC. After voting on Monday, August 16 to reject the terms of settlement offered by Mediator Brian Foley that included a 2-year wage freeze, two-tier wage system and job reclassification schedule, the union members are determined to stay out on strike until the employer has something realistic to offer them. |
